Minister Naughten publishes Sectoral Planning Guidelines for Climate Change Adaptation

May 2018

Minister Naughten recently published a set of “Sectoral Planning Guidelines for Climate Change Adaptation”. The guidelines are part of the statutory National Adaption Framework, which lays out the State’s national plan to reduce the negative effects of climate change.

As part of the National Adaption Framework, seven government ministers across twelve sectors are required to prepare sectoral adaption plans, including, Agriculture, Transport Infrastructure and Electricity & Gas networks. Local Authorities must also develop a set of local adaption strategies. These guidelines will be used to ensure that national and local bodies follow a clear and consistent approach to climate change planning.
