Minister Dempsey launches White Paper on energy

Minister Dempsey has launched the White Paper on Energy today (12th March ’07). The Limerick Clare Energy Agency has produced a White Paper Summary of action targets and main points available from our publications page. The White Paper sets out some ambitious targets for Ireland from now to 2020. Some of the targets for renewable energy production will be well within the abilities of coastal counties such as Limerick & Clare. Therefore to deliver the National targets, some local targets will have to be more ambitious. The Limerick Clare Energy Agency is committed to working locally and thinking nationally, in order to deliver on the targets set under the White Paper on Energy. We will improve the linkages between Government Departments, State-sponsored bodies and regional and local organisations to enhance the delivery of energy policy and service delivery at all levels, and, in that context, review the remits, structures and funding arrangements associated with the local energy agencies, with the aim of enhancing their valuable role, taking account of the need to balance efficiency, operational economies of scale and the benefits of local action;
