Minister Eamon Ryan Launches Home Energy Saving Scheme
Minister Eamon Ryan (Communications Energy and Natural Resources) has today announced a pilot Home Energy Savings Scheme.
The scheme will be piloted in the counties of Clare and Limerick with 200+ houses to be improved in both counties. A call centre will soon be established with a local number for those interested in being involved.
Some details of the scheme so far are:-
- Open to home owners only (not applicable to rental tenants, private or local authority)

Home Improvement measures will include:-
- Building Fabric Insulation
- Heating system controls
- Hot water system controls
- Lighting controls
- A grant of 30% up to €2,500 will be available
- Every house will have a survey from a qualified Building Energy Rating Assessor first
- The BER assessor will give the home owner an advisory report of measures that can save you energy, money and CO2
- The Home owner will select a competent contractor to carry pout the work, and pay them.
- The Local Authority will give the home owner the grant.
