Energy Minister Eamon Ryan increases electricity export tariff for first 4,000
The Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) has announced (16th/02/09) its decision regarding the tariff for the export of electricity to the National Grid. The decision paper can be downloaded here.
Summary CER 09/033:-
- Available to Domestic customers of PES only.
- Independent Power Providers are encouraged to make similar offers.
- ESB Customer Supply requested to address taxation issues that restrict extending the export tariff to SME’s, to enable the export payment to include SME’s by 2009 / 2010 tariff year.
- Value of exported electricity paid annually by ESB Customer Supply to its domestic customers through Electronic Funds Transfer.
- PES export tariff to commence at 9.00 c/kWh and will be available from 30th September 2009.
DCENR increase of CER export rates for first 4,000 to 19 c / kWh
Energy Minister Eamon Ryan announced (26th/2/09) measures to encourage the on-site generation of electricity in homes and farms across Ireland.
- Among the measures is a guaranteed price of 19 cent per kilowatt hour of electricity produced.
- This competitive feed-in tariff will apply to the first 4,000 micro-generation installations countrywide over the next three years.
- Eligible installations include small scale wind, photovoltaic, hydro and combined heat and power.
- ESB Customer Supply and ESB Networks will contribute 9 cents and 10 cents respectively towards this tariff.
- Domestic electricity users registered with ESB will receive a full tariff of 19c/kWh within limits set out above.
- Non-ESB customers will receive a 10c/kWh tariff for any excess electricity sold back to the grid.
