Energy Management for SME's
- SME's are particularly vulnerable to increases in their cost base
- Energy inflation in Ireland has been running at 10-20% per annum
- SME's typically do not have dedicated staff to address their energy costs
- After staff, high energy costs are now being cited as deterrents for investment
- SME's employ more people than large multinational companies
- Difficulties for SME's are less visible but have the potential to effect far more people in our economy
Limerick Clare Energy Agency wishes to establish a Pilot Project for SME’s in the Shannon area, to establish a network of companies that will: -.
- Implement an energy management programme
- Establish an Energy Policy for their business
- Identify an energy performance bench mark for their respective business
- Target potential energy and emissions savings
- Monitor and target progress toward an energy performance bench mark
- Monitor and target progress toward a CO2emissions bench mark
- Possibly develop an Energy Management certification scheme for SME's
The pilot project is an initiative of the Limerick Clare Energy Agency in association with Rural Resource Development Ltd, Shannon Development and the National Standards Authority.
The workshops will take place:
- September 4th - Newcastle West, Co. Limerick.
- September 26th - Library Boardroom, University of Limerick.
